Rickard’s electronic projects page – Virtual Game System
This is one cool project.
Most of us seen the persistence of vision projects and hacks out there on the internet lately. For those who haven’t Persistence of vision is the phenomenon that allows us to watch movies or the old school flipbooks we drew as kids. In essence our eye retains any image it sees for a few moments after the image has changed. Well Rickard Gunée has devised a video game system using a mechanical LED based POV display. It’s amazing to see this thing in action as the images appear to float in mid air.

ptunnel is software that allows you to tunnel regular TCP traffic through ICMP or Ping.
from the authors site
Ptunnel is an application that allows you to reliably tunnel TCP connections to a remote host using ICMP echo request and reply packets, commonly known as ping requests and replies. At first glance, this might seem like a rather useless thing to do, but it can actually come in handy in some cases. The following example illustrates the main motivation in creating ptunnel:
Setting: You’re on the go, and stumble across an open wireless network. The network gives you an IP address, but won’t let you send TCP or UDP packets out to the rest of the internet, for instance to check your mail. What to do? By chance, you discover that the network will allow you to ping any computer on the rest of the internet. With ptunnel, you can utilize this feature to check your mail, or do other things that require TCP.

This hacks for the more adventurous hardware hackers out there.
I have to admit I’m not too keen on opening up my brand new PSP just quite yet.
But this hack is interesting none the less.
As for results the author of the article got about a 12dB increase from the stock internal antenna.
And remember boys and girls this WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY!!!
This hack was done by Seth Fogie over at www.informit.com
You can get the full step by step instructions HERE
Now unfortunately my info on this is a bit sketchy (because the site is in Japanese… I think) But just watching the video of this thing tells me I want one. The first mechwarrior style mech thats actually worked (in a fashon).
Although the feet never leave the ground this is still pretty cool.
It hasn’t solved any of the Major problems with a mech in the traditional sense ie. Balancing on 1 foot or anything like that.
But the sweetness factor of having a moving mech is still pretty high.

This reportedly does not work with Wipeout Pure
