I had the same problem. I was also having problems logging into the web interface thus was unable to take that "refresh" step. Here are the steps I took and then it started to work:
I went back into

sudo gedit /etc/ushare.conf

and discovered I had put in the "example" port of 49200 instead of the port 49153. I dont know if this was important but I changed it to the correct port. I also noticed I hadnt activated the web interface option. I changed that to yes. I stopped and started the share using

sudo /etc/init.d/ushare stop
sudo /etc/init.d/ushare start

and bam! the interface was working again. I was then able to click "refresh shares" and I started to recieve my videos on the xbox.

IDK if what I did changed anything or if it fixed itself or what, but I have my files now and I am happy.

bepps, I don't know if you'll see this, but if you have an external USB hard drive with your movies on it, you can plug it directly into the Xbox without having to go through a PC -- the Xbox 360 can read files off of external storage without any problems.

If you're just running an ethernetcable between your PC and Xbox no you wont't have net access. You need to plug both devices into your router or a switch for that. I'm not sure I understand your second question. Do you mean will you still have access to the Hard drive on the computer on on the Xbox?--LiamSent with Sparrow <p style="color: #a0a0a0;">

Can see the share in my video library on xbox 360 but it says "no videos found" when I open the share. Most are divx and play perfectly on 360 when put on usb thumb drive etc. Any thoughts?

I haven't tried this yet, but I plan on it. I do have a couple questions, however. If I'm connecting ethernet from xbox to PC, how will my xbox be connected to the internet. Also, I have an external hard drive containing all my movies, is that still going to be accesible?
