I have an old (relatively) iPod touch lying around and since I got my iPhone I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with it. For a while I just used it to store extra stuff that wasn’t important enough to occupy space on my iPhone and then I started thinking. Wouldn’t it be great if I could make some more use of the portability and WiFi capabilities like say sniff wireless traffic or do some other man in the middle type attacks from it. I mean it definitely has all the components to make it work.
It’s just a matter of the software. So in the next couple of weeks I’m going to put together the ultimate portable WiFi hacking tutorial for the iPod touch. And the main tool that’s going to allow this is QuickPWN! (Windows) or PWNAGE Tool (OS X)
QuickPWN! is a software package for Windows that will allow you to update the firmware on your iPhone, iPhone 3G or iPod Touch to Install 3rd party software (There’s separate versions depending on if the firmware on your device is version 2.0.1 or 2.0.2 )
PWNAGE Tool! basically does the same thing by allowing you to update the firmware on your iPhone, iPhone 3G or iPod Touch to Install 3rd party software but PWNAGE Tool runs on OS X instead of Windows and the latest version of the software supports firmwares 2.0, 2.0.1 or 2.0.2
So if you don’t mind voiding your warranty give one of these tools a try and open yourself up to a world of software in your pocket. And don’t forget to stay tuned for the ultimate WiFi Hacking device.
